Master Class Utilizing the MARS ICG System
A three-day master class on the methodology of ICG navigation using the Russian-made MARS system was held at the Department of Oncoplastic Surgery and Chemotherapy of the P.A. Herzen Moscow Oncology Research Institute – a branch of the National Medical Research Centre for Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Russia.
The master class was led by Yevgeny A. Troshenkov, MD, Head of the Department of Oncoplastic Surgery and Chemotherapy at the P.A. Herzen Moscow Oncology Research Institute.
Over the course of the master class, several surgeries were performed, with the ICG navigation technique applied in all procedures throughout the three days:
- Day One: A sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) for breast cancer.
- Day Two: A procedure to assess skin flap blood flow.
- Day Three: A lymphovenous anastomosis surgery for lymphedema.
The MARS system is designed for real-time visualization of blood flow in arterial and venous vessels, lymph flow, and the perfusion of organs and tissues. All surgeries performed during the master class were completed successfully.
